Granite City Brass is delighted to announce the launch of Granite City Youth, creating an exciting, fully funded opportunity for young musicians across the region to play, perform, and grow.
Thanks to generous grant funding from The William Syson Foundation, the course is completely free of charge for all participants.
Launching on Monday 31st August 2026, rehearsals will take place weekly from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at the Oasis Church, Whitestripes Road, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen (AB22 8AW).
The new youth band is open to brass and percussion players from Primary 6 (P6) and above, from Grade 1+ standard.
Designed to be fun, welcoming, and inclusive, Granite City Youth offers young players a fantastic platform to expand their musical knowledge, build performing confidence, and experience the thrill of brass banding alongside fellow young musicians.
Band Secretary Julie Smith said:
“We are hugely grateful to The William Syson Foundation for their support, which allows us to offer this exciting new initiative completely free to young players. Making music accessible to everyone is so important to us. Granite City Youth Brass is going to be a vibrant, supportive space where young brass and percussion players can challenge themselves, learn new music, build confidence on stage, and most importantly, have a fantastic time doing it together.”
Parents, guardians, and young musicians interested in joining are encouraged to register their interest ahead of the first session on Monday 31st August.
