In the first Fife Charities contest since 2019, Granite City took 2nd place and came home with a total of four trophies!
It was a contest that saw the band take to the stage to play the March 'The Champions' by Maj G. H. Willcocks, the Hymn 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind' arranged by Eric Banks, and the exciting testpiece 'Traversada' by Oliver Waespi which resulted in the adjudicator, John Boax remark: 'A band that sounds as if they understand ensemble work'
"A band that sounds as if they understand ensemble work" John Boax (Adjudicator)
The band clearly impressed both the Adjudicator John Boax, and the soloist judge, Carol Ednie as our performance won us the individual awards of Best Euphonium (Lewis Catto) and Best Basses (Andy Paterson, Niamh McColl, Pixie Nishina and Clive Zwanswiniski), with Carol Ednie saying in her remarks after the performances 'I was looking for the players who played consistently throughout'.
The band have now qualified for the Senior Trophy in Blackpool on May 13th and will be preparing for the Scottish Challenge Shield in November.
The band would like to wish congratulations to the winners of the competition, Kingdom Brass.
