Scottish Challenge Shield

Granite City Brass and Community Band recently took part in the gcb-kilmarnock-2016Band Supplies Scottish Challenge Shield at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock.

GCB performed Traversada by Oliver Waespi, finishing 9th out of 21 competing bands in what was described as a “very good technical performance” by the adjudicators.

The Community Band participated as a non-competing band, playing Philip Sparke’s A Malvern Suite. This was the first outing for new conductor Alex Dawson, and it was great to see the players gaining more contest experience!

Both bands enjoyed a good day out in Kilmarnock. Rehearsals have now finished for the year and Christmas fundraising starts soon, then both bands will start preparing for the Scottish Championships in the New Year.
