Originally from Leigh in Lancashire, Michelle started playing the cornet aged 10 whilst at primary school (as a natural progression from the recorder!) Through-out her teens she actively participated in several bands in the Lancashire area, starting at Astley Youth Band and Leigh Silver before joining Tyldesey Band. Michelle then played for the Manchester based Moston and Beswick band for several years before returning to Tyldesey band in 2003.

Through-out her teens and early twenties Michelle received regular tuition from the then Williams Fairey Band principal cornet – Brian Taylor.

After graduating from University Michelle travelled quite substantially with her work as an IT Consultant and most recently spent 2 1/2 years in Dubai.

Since returning to the UK and relocating to Aberdeen, Michelle has been keen to get back into banding and joined Granite City Brass in November 2010.
