About
Granite City

In 1850, Stoneywood Papermill worker and local poet, George Gibb and 12 others established the Stoneywood and Auchmull Union Band.

Over 170 years, five name changes and one merge later, Granite City Brass and Community Band enjoy a healthy schedule of playing engagements and enjoyable rehearsals in a community environment.

Granite City Brass is a 1st section contesting band who perform in several contests throughout the calendar year all over Scotland.

COMMUNITY
BAND

Our Community Band exists for players of all abilities and all ages to be part of a musical ensemble. As a non-contesting band, the community band enjoys a varied programme of events.

Formed in 1997, the community band serves as an additional space for those who want a bit less commitment, and as a feeder band for the senior contesting band, Granite City Brass
